If your network is fairly slow or you're having performance problems running Reporting4Act! from the server, one option is to install the program on individual computers; that is, doing a full installation on the machines rather than using WSSetup.exe to do a workstation install. In that case, in order to share reports between users, you can specify the name of a folder on the server that contains report SFX files in the Synchronize reports with server setting in the Options dialog.
This works in one of two ways, depending on how the Overwrite reports catalog with server version setting in the Locations page of the Options dialog is set:
If that setting is turned off, when a user starts Reporting4Act! on their system, the program checks the synchronization folder to see if there are any new or updated reports, and if so, imports them into the reports folder on the user's system. It's possible for the workstation to have more reports than the server since syncing is from the server to the workstation and not vice versa.
If that setting is turned on, workstations and the server contain the exact same set of reports because at startup, the workstation's reports are overwritten with those on the server.
When reports are created or updated on a workstation, they may be exported to the synchronization folder manually. This doesn't happen automatically so you have complete control over which reports are available to users.
