When I start Reporting4Act!, I receive the message "Error: The rich text control is not accessible."
Act! uses the rich text format to store formatting information in details fields. Reporting4Act! uses a component called the rich text control to properly handle this rich text information. The rich text control is set up as part of the Reporting4Act! installation, but this error message indicates it is not set up properly on this machine. Most likely, the rich text control file has been installed properly, but has not been licensed or registered properly with Windows. To resolve this problem, the control needs to be licensed and registered manually.
The Reporting4Act! installation includes a small utility file to do the licensing for you. This file is named richtext.reg, and is stored in the Utilities subdirectory of your Reporting4Act! program directory. To complete the licensing, follow these steps:
In Windows Explorer, navigate to the Utilities subdirectory of your Reporting4Act! program directory.
Double-click on the richtext.reg file.
At the Are you sure you want to add the information in richtext.reg to the registry prompt, click Yes.
You will then receive a confirmation message that this information has been added to the registry.
Next, register the control. To do this, follow these steps:
Click the Windows Start button and type "cmd". When an item for the Windows command prompt appear in the list, right-click it and choose Run As Administrator.
If you're using a 64-bit system, type in the command window:
regsvr32 C:\Windows\SysWOW64\richtx32.ocx
If you're using a 32-bit system, type in the command window:
regsvr32 C:\Windows\System32\richtx32.ocx
With this done, you can restart Reporting4Act!, and this error message should no longer come up.
